Wedding Treatment Timeline: How to look flawless on your big day

Wedding Treatment Timeline: How to look flawless on your big day

Your wedding day is for some the biggest day of their lives, and for others it’s another step in the lifelong journey with their partner. One thing that’s for certain is on this day of all days there’s no time to stress about your skin. We know you’ve been planning this day down to the last detail for quite some time, and it might come as a great relief to learn you can also plan for skin success as well.

To help keep things as clear cut as possible, we’ve worked with the one and only Alma McGrath to layout a year long template of a treatment plan you may consider as part of your own preparation. This plan is to complement your at-home routine, which will be discussed during the Consultation.

Please note: Everyone’s skin journey and needs are different, so individual plans and results may vary. We encourage all clients to keep in close contact with the clinic, and disclose any important dates/events so we can be sure to offer you the best advice ahead of your big day(s)!

Consultation

The Consultation is the first step anyone should take in ensuring they look their best on their wedding day. We would argue that it is perhaps the most important step as the Consultation provides an opportunity for you to meet with our world renowned staff, allowing us to gain an understanding of what you are looking to achieve on your wedding day and highlights any concerns that will need to be addressed. We will discuss your current habits, routines, challenges, and overall skin health to understand your short-term and long-term needs.

With our revolutionary Vectra 3D imaging system, we’re able pinpoint skin concerns, explore the impact of different treatment plans, and accurately predict/display the results that different procedures may achieve for you. Think of this as a chance to take a look into the crystal ball and see what possibilities lie ahead for you on your big day.

Laser Hair Removal

From what we’ve heard from our clients, for many it’s the little things that can either trip them up, or make a massive difference on their big day. If you don't want the hassle of having to deal with hair removal in advance of your wedding day or honeymoon, laser hair removal is a great option. Laser Hair removal sessions should be started around a year before the wedding day as it can take 2-6 treatments that are spaced 6 weeks apart to achieve smooth hair-free skin.

Supplementation

As we all know healthy skin begins from within, and for your wedding day we know you’ll already be glowing from the inside out. To amplify this healthy glow, and ensure your skin is beaming in the same way, it is essential that you are getting the right nutrients as part of your diet. Alma recommends taking skincare supplements that are specially formulated to help achieve glowing skin and address particular skin concerns. We’ve partnered with the incredible Advanced Nutrition Programme to offer all our clients a range of different supplements that target different skin concerns and goals. During your consultation we can advise you of what supplements would be most beneficial for you, your health, and your skin goals.

Exercise and Nutrition

Health comes in all shapes and sizes, and not everyone is an exercise bunny. As part of your plan it’s important to maintain a healthy balance in your day to day life which can include daily activities to celebrate your health, a nutrient rich diet, and rituals which support your overall wellbeing. As part of your overall plan, these steps will help you feel confident and comfortable in your skin. Ensuring you are maintaining a balanced diet and keeping active is an excellent way to help you look and feel your best!

9 Months before wedding

Laser Skin Treatments

It is recommended that BBL (broadband light), IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and other laser treatments are booked around 9 months before the wedding. This allows for recovery time, and the full course of treatments as the best results are achieved through multiple sessions.

Hot Tip: To ensure that you are maximising the results of the laser treatments the last laser session should be done at least 2 months before the wedding.

Facial

Alongside your personalised treatments, a regular and holistic facial routine will leave you glowing on the big day and help your makeup to apply seamlessly. The perfect time to start this routine is 9 months prior to the wedding day. Our recommended starting facial is the Diamond Glow Facial. This facial is absolutely perfect for big events like weddings. This advanced facial provides exfoliation, extraction and infusion of nourishing ingredients to help achieve radiant healthy skin.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections

If fine lines and wrinkles are a concern for you on your wedding day anti-wrinkle injections can be a great option! These are extremely beneficial in creating a more youthful appearance, and reducing the signs of fine lines and wrinkles. Foreplanning is important with anti-wrinkle inejections to ensure you’re achieving maximum results. For most, two sessions is perfect to allow for the initial treatment, and then secondary tweaking (if necessary).

We recommend starting anti-wrinkle injections around the 9 month mark before the wedding day, with your last session at least 4 weeks ahead of your wedding date to allow for recovery time.

6 months before wedding

Chemical Peels

Dull, uneven skin is not on the guestlist, and has no place in your wedding photos. Fortunately, a chemical peel treatment can brighten the skin, even out skin tone, and reduce shallow wrinkles before your special day. This treatment can also be effective at reducing the visible signs of sun damage.

It’s typically best to schedule your chemical peel around 3-6 months before the wedding depending on how strong the peel is. Chemical peels can cause skin flaking, redness, and do have a short-window of recovery time. In planning ahead, this will ensure your skin has time to rest, and regenerate before your wedding.

Filler

Fillers are an excellent way to add volume to areas on the face. Hyaluronic acid filler is extremely effective at adding shape and volume specific areas on the face. Hyaluronic acid is made of a substance that’s already in our body which means that they have a very high compatibility, which helps reduce risk of complications. Med Aesthetics leverages this tool to enhance your naturally gorgeous facial features. Some popular areas to add filler are the lips, cheeks and under eyes. It is recommended that fillers are done from 6 month to 9 months before the wedding day. After your treatment there can be some swelling and bruising which can last up to two weeks. Be sure to plan ahead to allow for the full recovery time ahead of the big day.

Hot Tip: Filler also lasts longer than anti-wrinkle injections, up to one year, and this is why the 6-9 month mark before the wedding is the ideal time.

Profhilo

Profhilo, the first BDDE-free stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) based product for treating skin laxity, is for some a great opportunity to improve skin tone, texture, hydration and overall radiance. This is achieved by injective hyaluronic acid into the skin, stimulating the reproduction of new collagen and elastin. Further, it can help to increase firmness and elasticity and promote healthier and softer-looking skin.

This course of treatment requires two sessions spaced 6 weeks apart. Your first session should be ~4 months ahead of your wedding day. With the second treatment ~6 weeks later, this will ensure that you are feeling the full results on your big day.

2 weeks before wedding

Final Facial

Two weeks before the wedding (!!) you should have your final facial to ensure your skin will be glowy and smooth for the big day. This is the time for rest, relaxation, and to reap the benefits of all the effort you’ve put forward in the last year.

Think of this last facial as your personal reward, or a little cherry on top, which will ensure you’re feeling your best and that your skin looks amazing on the day.

Hot Tip: No new skincare products should be used two weeks before the wedding. After your meticulous planning, and year long efforts, we don't want to throw a spanner in the works right at the end. As you know, everyone’s skin reacts differently so adding a new product, or active agent just before the big day might not be the best plan for your skin. Stick to your tried and tested skincare products when you are this close to the wedding to avoid any adverse skin reactions just before the day.

We here at Med Aesthetics would consider ourselves lucky to be part of your wedding day journey, and invite any questions you may have. We hope this timeline serves as a helpful guide to show you that with some foresight, and a bit of planning, your dream skin, and wedding day are well within your reach.
