Types of Filler used

Hyaluronic acid filler is used in lip filler procedures and there are various different types of hyaluronic acid filler that can be used. The type of filler used should depend on the goals of the patient and their natural lip shape. At MedAesthetics we offer various different types of hyaluronic acid filler in order to achieve the goals of our patients and to create their desired look.

Juvéderm®

Juvéderm® is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration.  Juvéderm® is thought to be the best injectable to be used in the lips. Juvéderm® provides fullness, definition, and shape to the lips. Juvéderm® has a smoother consistency than other types of filler such as Restylane. This allows for a more even and smoother appearance to the lips. Effects of Juvéderm®are apparent immediately after the procedure and results tend to last up to 12 months.

Juvéderm® Volbella

Volbella is the latest FDA-approved injectable added to the Juvéderm family of dermal fillers. This non-surgical lip augmentation treatment is designed to plump the lips subtly. Juvéderm® Volbella is a perfect option for those looking for natural looking results that subtly increase volume and improve symmetry. Results of Juvéderm® Volbella last up to one year and are apparent immediately.

Juvederm Ultra  XC

Juvéderm Ultra XC is primarily used to add volume to the lips but is also often used to treat to treat facial wrinkles. It is similar to Juvéderm®  but has the added ingredient  lidocaine. This is designed to prevent pain from the injections. It can also save time because you won’t need a separate topical pain reliever prior to the procedure. One report indicated 93 percent of clinical trial participants noticed a reduction in pain with lidocaine-containing formulas.

Benefits of lip filler

Adds volume

Lip filler adds volume to the lips creating a more full, plump looking pout. This can create an improved appearance to the lips and can restore balance and symmetry to the face. Lip filler can create amazing looking results that boost patients confidence and help them to be more comfortable in their own skin!

Natural-looking

Using Hyaluronic acid filler, which is what we use at MedAesthetics, for lip filler allows patients to achieve natural looking fuller lips. This is due to the smooth consistency of the filler which ensures an even natural looking results. Dr Olga' O' Driscoll has extensive knowledge and training in this field and is committed to delivering the desired result of the patient.

Quick, Instant, Painless Results

Lip filler is a very quick procedure usually taking around 45 minutes including the time required for numbing. Results are apparent immediately after the procedure is carried out allowing patients to see the results instantly. Downtime and pain is minimal.

Reversible Procedure

Dermal filler can be dissolved and therefore lip filler can be reversed if the patient does not like the results or changes their mind. This can offer patients peace-of-mind that they will not be stuck with results they do not like.

The lip filler procedure process

Preparation

In preparation for the lip filler procedure patients should ensure they keep their lips hydrated using lip balm to ensure there are no cracks on the lips. It is also recommended that blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen and vitamin E are avoided for one week pre and post procedure. Before the procedure the administrator should discuss with the patient what their desired results are and should inform them of any side effects that could occur.

Treatment

To begin the treatment the administrator should assess the face and map out where the filler should be inserted to ensure symmetry and evenness. After this the lips will be be cleansed using anti-bacterial wipes to ensure cleanliness and to ensure the patients health and safety. An anesthetic can then be used to minimise any pain. At Med Aesthetics we used anesthetic cream to minimise any discomfort. The dermal filler will then be injected into the lips with precision. This usually only takes around 30 minutes.

Aftercare

The results will be evident immediately after the procedure. There may be slight swelling and bruising however lip fillers require minimal downtime. To minimize any swelling or bruising patients should avoid alcohol and any strenuous exercise for at least 48 hours after the treatment.

Are Lip Fillers Safe?

All injectable treatments come with risks. To minimize the risk of complications patients should ensure the administrator of the procedure is fully qualified and is using FDA approved. Here at MedAesthetics we only use FDA approved filler and our lip filler administrators are fully qualified with extensive knowledge and experience.
