Breast Lift

Breast Lift

A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that raises and tightens sagging and deflated looking breasts. Breast lifts give you a more youthful and flattering contour.  A breast lift is often combined with breast augmentation to improve breast size or fullness.

Who is a candidate for a breast lift?

  • Women who have pendulous breasts that are the size they like but are sagging.
  • Women whose breasts lack firmness.
  • Women whose nipples and areolas point downward and are below the breast crease.

What is involved in breast lift surgery?

It is an outpatient procedure that means you will usually go home the day of the surgery. It is performed under general anaesthesia. Typically, the breast lift technique involves incisions that follow your breasts natural contour. The incisions encircle the areola, extend vertically down the breast and may extend horizontally along the crease underneath the breast. Our surgeons preference is to limit the scars as much as possible. Another technique limits the excisions to around the nipple but it all depends on your individual anatomy and the decision you reach with our consultant.

During the procedure excess skin is removed and your nipples are repositioned higher on your breasts giving a fuller and firmer feel and appearance. They remain attached to the underlying breast tissue to help preserve breast and nipple sensation.
